5 Reasons Why You'd Be Mad To Miss Dortmund vs Bayern

The 'German clasico' gets underway at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday evening. (WATCH and BET LIVE on Unibet TV from 17.30 GMT). Here's why it will be unmissable...

1. They are the best two teams in Europe

Fans of Real Madrid and Barcelona may disagree, but these are the best two sides around at the moment. Dortmund may have lost Mario Gotze to their rivals, but recent arrival Henrikh Mkhitaryan has proved a shrewd purchase, and there has been no obvious drop in Dortmund’s level since the Champions League final in May. Bayern, meanwhile, are going from strength-to-strength and, if anything, look even better now than last season. Back both teams to score at 1.58.

2. First Bundesliga clash between Klopp & Guardiola

They met in the Supercup in July (which Dortmund won 4-2), but this is the first time coaches Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have gone head-to-head in the Bundesliga. Both managers will view this as an early chance to gain a psychological advantage over the other. Back Bayern to be ahead at half time at 2.50.

3. It’s a golden chance for Dortmund to close the gap

The black and yellows are four points behind Bayern at the top of the table, so a win on Saturday would throw things wide open again. Dortmund surrendered the league title way too early last season, and will be eager to ensure they stay much closer to their bitter rivals this time around. Dortmund are 3.75 to beat Bayern.

4. Lewandowski watch

Speculation has been rife over Robert Lewandowski’s future, but it would appear he will still, as expected, follow Mario Gotze to Bavaria next summer – or even in January. The prolific forward may not be going to the World Cup, but he’ll be raring to go against Bayern on Saturday. The Pole is 6.00 to open the scoring.

5. There will be goals

The last four games between these sides at Signal Iduna Park have produced 18 goals. There is something about this clash that traditionally encourages plenty of goalmouth action, and we can expect the same again this Saturday. Dortmund currently have a goal difference of +21, while Bayern’s is +20, so there is little danger of a quiet, cagey defensive contest. Back over 2.5 goals at 1.67.
