VfL Wolfsburg - FSV Mainz 05
After a shaky start to the season, Wolfsburg have won their last three in the Bundesliga which has moved them towards the European places - the region of the table they’ll be expecting to finish come the end of the campaign.
Mainz on the other hand probably hadn’t anticipated to still be unbeaten after their first 8 games, especially after humiliating early season defeats in the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League. They’ll be without Dortmund loanee Jonas Hofmann on Sunday and indeed until 2015 after he injured his knee in last weekend’s win over Augsburg. Given Wolfsburg’s midweek trip to Russia though, Mainz aren’t a bad price for a draw at 3.75.
Borussia Mönchengladbach - FC Bayern Munich
It’s the biggest game of the weekend and of the season so far. The question is – can third-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach, yet to be beaten in any competition this season, close the gap on Bayern Munich in first? It’s a big challenge for coach Lucien Favre but he has toppled them before.
The problem for Gladbach of course is that Bayern are in imperious form. In case you haven’t heard, the German champions won rather comfortably in Rome during the week. Whilst Gladbach are unlikely to be torn apart in such a fashion, it’s impossible to overlook Bayern. The value is to be found in the away side being ahead before the break at 1.87.
