Hertha BSC v FSV Mainz 05
You’d have got a strange look from a Hertha fan if you’d told them their side would only need a point from their final game of 2015 to end the year in third. That’s just the case though ahead of Mainz’s visit to the German capital. Pal Dardai’s side even advanced to the last eight of the DFB Cup during the week. Mainz though are in good form, especially away from home where they haven’t lost any of their last four. It’ll be a question of whether Dardai can strike the right balance but such is their current confidence and their excellent home form, it looks best to back Hertha at 2.20.
Borussia Mönchengladbach v SV Darmstadt 98
If there’s a team who could do with the winter break, then it’s Gladbach having lost their last three in all competitions. André Schubert’s side finally seem to have buckled under the pressure of a sizeable injury list. Darmstadt played injury hit Bayern on Wednesday and only lost 1-0. That epitomises how well they’ve done away at some of the bigger sides in the division, having taken a point at both Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. Even with Gladbach running out of steam, they’re still likely to see off the awkward challenge that Darmstadt present, at 1.53.
