Champions League Betting: Group C Tips

Zenit St.Petersburg 1.45  The Draw 4.40  Anderlecht 7.00

(1700 BST Kick Off)

The night's early kick off in Group C sees Belgian champions Anderlecht travel east to meet reigning Russian champs Zenit.

Both of these sides has struggled for a foothold in this season's European competition. Anderlecht started promisingly enough with an heroic point in the San Siro against AC Milan, but were then thumped on their own turf by a rampant Malaga last time out.

Zenit also have also taken a hammering at the hands of the Spanish group toppers and then lost an epic five-goal thriller by the odd strike at home to Milan.

As such, this is a vital game for both sides if they harbour any realistic aspirations of reaching the knockout phase and with. Furthermore, neither side are renowned for their defensive prowess, so don;t be surprised if it rains goals in Russia tonight - you can back over 3.5 net bulges at odds of 3.30.

If it is to be a high-scoring affair, you can be sure Zenit's penalty-taking livewire Alexander Kerzhakov will be in on the action - you can bet on him to score at any time at 2.30, while his strike partner Hulk is 25.00 for a hat-trick.

Score Prediction: Zenit 4-2 Anderlecht at 50.00.

Malaga 2.05  The Draw 3.45  AC Milan 3.55

(1945 BST Kick Off)

Considering the soap opera that persists behind the scenes at Malaga - and the fact they lost three of their key players in the summer - Manuel Pellegrini's resurgent side are proving to be the surprise package of both La Liga and the Champions League so far this term.

The Costa Del Sol side are loving life at football's top table, having thrashed all-comers in their opening two games. With chief creative influences Joaquin and Javier Saviola enjoying a shared Indian summer, the team has verve and free-flowing energy going forward, encapsulated by two wonder strikes from Eliseu during their 3-0 win away at Anderlecht last time out.  The Portuguese hotshot can be backed at 5.25 to score at any time, while penlaty taker Joaquin is at 6.50 to open the scoring.

For all their recent form Malaga haven't yet faced a team with as much European pedigree or know-how as the mighty Rossoneri, who will travel to Spain with the likes of Bojan, Pato and Pazzini in their midst.

That said, AC Milan are not their usual selves right now. The seven-time European Champions are enduring something of a rebuilding period under Masimiliano Allegri, and it shows. They have just one point from their opening two Champions League encounters and are languishing way behind the pace in Serie A.

All of which means a home win is not only on the cards, but is available at good value too. Back Malaga to win at h/t and f/t at 3.15.

Score prediction: Malaga 2-1 Milan at 9.50.
