Champions League Betting: Group A Tips

Porto 1.50, the draw 4.10, Dynamo Kiev 6.75 (19:45 kick-off)

With six points and two clean sheets to their name, Porto are undoubtedly the team to beat in Group A. The Dragons saw of Dinamo Zagrab in gameweek one, before grinding out a win against PSG in Portugal last time out. They are understandable favourites to beat a Dynamo Kiev side that has yet to come to terms with the retirement of Andriy Shevchenko.

The visitors are without a win in three matches and sit some 12 points behind rivals Shakhtar Donetsk domestically, suggesting that they are not quite at the level required to compete on the continent this term. Back Porto/Porto in the HT/FT market at 2.20 for some value, and consider betting on the hosts to win without conceding at 3.00.

In the goalscorer markets, Porto forward Jackson Martinez is the obvious choice at 2.45 to net anytime. He leads an attack that also boasts the quality of James Rodriguez, meaning he benefits from a fine supply line. For a longer-odds bet, consider Joao Moutinho (16.00) or Lucho Gonzalez (12.50) to open the scoring, both of whom get forward well.

Score prediction: Porto 2-0 Dynamo Kiev (7.25)

Dinamo Zagreb 6.20, the draw 4.10, Paris Saint-Germain 1.52 (19:45 kick-off)

Following the loss to Porto, Carlo Ancelotti's PSG side will be desperate to return to winning ways when they travel to Croatia. Dynamo are yet to open their account in the competition, and while a defence led by the experienced Josip Simunic has impressed in patches, the firepower of the French side will surely tell in this one.

Four of PSG's six victories this term have been to nil, suggesting that the 2.70 on them to win without conceding is good value. Another good bet could be the 4.80 available on draw/PSG in the HT/FT market; Dinamo will likely look to keep things tight early on, but PSG's quality should show in the end.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the name to look out for in the goalscorer markets. He's available at 2.00 to score anytime, while the 5.00 for him to score twice or more might be worth a small flutter. A more risky strategy would be to dutch PSG centre-backs Alex and Thiago Silva; both have been among the goals this season, and will be a threat from corners and free-kicks.

Score prediction: Dinamo 0-2 PSG (7.50)
