1. Player of the day
Why always him? Well, normally because he acts like a bit of a wally and makes himself centre of attention for negative reasons. But on this occasion, Super Mario stole the show for all the right reasons, pouncing twice in the first half to launch Italy into the Euro 2012 final, where he's at 9.25 to score first, by the way.
2. Tactical masterstroke of the day
2-0 up with half hour remaining, Cesare Prandelli could've been forgiven for shutting up shop, taking off his strikers and placing ten men behind the ball. But instead he stayed like for like, replacing Cassano with Diamanti, whose attacking flair helped Italy enjoy more possession. In the end, Germany exited the tournament with a whimper. Italy are now 2.50 to lift the trophy.

4. Lookalike of the day
Germany midfielder Sami Khedira resembles Foo Fighters rock star Dave Grohl. Sadly, Sami, we didn't see 'the best of you' last night.
5. Quote of the day
"Some people were annoyed that I took my shirt off? Maybe that's because I showed off my physique and they were jealous!" (Mario Balotelli)
