Unibet pays out £100,000 on injury-time offer after Seb Larsson's late goal

On Tuesday night, Sebastian Larsson’s late goal assured a Sweden victory over France, with the 91st minute strike seeing Unibet paying out over £100,000 to its customers in refunded bets.

Unibet’s injury time insurance offer meant that every losing Correct Score, First/Last Goalscorer and Half Time/Full Time were paid back in full as the goal was scored after the 90th minute.

Despite the offer running on every match throughout the tournament, it is the first time that Unibet have had to pay out so far.

“We got a bit lucky on Monday night as Balotelli’s late goal was just 20 seconds or so from being in injury time” said Erik Backlund Head Of Unibet’s Sportsbook.

“But Tuesday night we weren’t so lucky – we had seen around 70% of customers bets on Benzema (France) to score first, as well as a large amount of bets on France winning 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1.

Refunding all these bets meant that this is the biggest insurance payout Unibet ‘s customers have ever seen!”

Unibet are no strangers to refunding bets on big events - their Champions League 0-0 insurance offer has previously seen bets refunded to customers on any match finishing goalless.

With the quarter-finals upon us and teams pushing hard for a last minute goal, Unibet customers will be hoping for plenty more injury time goals and refunded stakes!
