European Football Results: Barca Defeat Throws La Liga Wide Open

Spain

Barcelona missed the chance to go three points clear at the top of La Liga and six points clear of rivals Real Madrid with a surprise defeat at Athletic Bilbao.

Barca succumbed to a second half winner by Iker Muniain, with the result ensuring Bilbao remain undefeated at home this season.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale scored the perfect hat-trick (left foot, right foot, head) to ensure a Cristiano Ronaldo-less Madrid hammered Valladolid 4-0. Elsewhere, there were wins for Atletico Madrid, Celta Vigo and Sociedad.

Madrid are now only three points behind Barca. Back Los Blancos to win La Liga at 2.90.

 

Germany

Not even Arjen Robben’s failed goal celebration could take the shine off Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig.

The Dutch winger fell on his face as he slid towards the celebrating Bayern fans, whose side remain four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. They also moved a whopping seven points clear of Borussia Dortmund, who needed two penalties from Robert Lewandowski to win 3-1 at Mainz.

Bayern Leverkusen picked themselves up after their 5-0 humbling by Manchester United and consolidated second place with a routine 3-0 win over struggling Nurnberg.

Back Leverkusen's Kiessling to finish top scorer in the Bundesliga this season at 6.00.

 

Italy

Juve won their sixth straight league match to take advantage of another Roma draw to stay top of Serie A.

But the Old Lady left it late, with the in-form Fernando Llorente scoring a 92nd minute winner to break Udinese hearts. Undefeated Roma, meanwhile, drew their fourth straight league game with a 1-1 tie at Atlanta to stay second, and three points adrift of Juve.

Juve are 1.45 to make it seven straight wins at Bologna next weekend.

 

France

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not be going to the World Cup next summer but, boy, he can take a penalty!

The enigmatic Swede floated in from the spot, as Paris Saint-Germain maintained their unbeaten start to Ligue 1 with an impressive 4-0 win over Lyon.

There were also wins for Marseille, Monaco and Lille in France over the weekend.

Zlatan is 3.45 to open the scoring next weekend against Evian.
