Los Blancos needed late goals from Kaka and Gonzalo Higuain to overcome Deportivo La Coruna, while Barca were thankful for Leo Messi's killer instincts against Sevilla. The surprise of the weekend was Malaga's 3-0 loss to Real Betis - a result that puts the latter on the brink of the European places. Betis can be backed at 7.00 to finish in the top four.
Bayern Munich continued their stellar form, romping to a 6-1 win against Werder Bremen (see below). Arjen Robben staked his claim for a starting spot in the Champions League, bagging the opener and setting up two further goals. Jupp Heynckes' side are now a whopping 17 points clear of Dortmund, who could only manage a 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladback on Sunday.
