European Football Results: PSG and Barcelona seal titles


PSG finally sealed the Ligue 1 title, beating Lyon thanks to a goal from Jeremy Menez (see below). That result put them seven points clear of Marseille (2-1 winners at home to Toulouse) with just two rounds to go. Lyon's blank boosted Lille's hopes of sneaking into the Champions League places; the northerners are just three points adrift after thrashing Reims.


Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with Espanyol handed Barcelona the Liga title even before they kicked off against Atletico Madrid. Radamel Falcao's opener briefly looked to have spoiled the party for the Blaugrana, but an Alexis Sanchez strike and an own goal provided a more fitting finale (see below). Valencia leapfrogged Real Sociedad in the race for fourth with a convincing win at Rayo Vallecano, but La Real have the chance to bite back against Granada tonight.


Juventus could only manage a draw against Cagliari, but it mattered little as the Old Lady celebrated their latest Serie A title in front of their home fans (see below). There were wins for Napoli, Udinese and Lazio, but Milan could only manage a dire 0-0 draw with Roma on Sunday night. The latter will now start to focus on the upcoming cup final against their city rivals.


There were goals galore in the Bundesliga this weekend: 38 in 9 games, to be precise. Hamburg and Borussia Monchengladbach managed four apiece (against Hoffeinheim and Mainz respectively), while Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen also won. The match of the round came at the Volkswagen Arena, where Wolfsburg and Dortmund played out a six-goal thriller...
