European Football Results: Real pile misery on Barcelona

Juventus took another step towards retaining their Serie A title, drawing 1-1 with closest rivals Napoli on Friday night. That game featured a ding-dong battle between Giorgio Chiellini and Edinson Cavani, with the latter delivering a sly elbow to his marker (see below). Juve are now in to 1.16 to win the Scudetto. Milan's resurgence continues apace; they stormed to a 3-0 win over Lazio at San Siro. The game of the weekend, though, came in Sicily, where Inter came back from 2-0 down to beat Catania.

Barcelona's miserable form continued on Saturday, when they were beaten (again) by Real Madrid. Los Blancos didn't even have a full team out, yet goals from Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos proved enough to see off the Catalans (see video). Jose Mourinho's side are now just two points behind Atletico Madrid, who could only manage a 0-0 draw against Malaga. Real are at 1.45 to overtake their city rivals by the end of the season.

Another week, another clean sheet for Bayern Munich who beat Hoffenheim 1-0 away from home. Young playmaker Julian Draxler shone for Schalke once more, scoring two and setting up another in the 4-1 win against Wolfsburg. Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, beat Hannover, thanks in large part to a Robert Lewandowski brace (below).

The title race in Ligue 1 is hotting up; Lyon moved within two points of PSG, who fell to an unexpected loss to Reims. Remi Garde's side could themselves only manage a draw against Brest, meaning even third-placed Marseille could fancy their chances. In Corsica, Bastia came out on top of a spicy local derby with Ajaccio.
