PSG – Reims – Saturday 16:00 GMT
PSG host Reims on Saturday afternoon at the Parc des Princes, four days after their great victory against Chelsea in the Champions League last-16.. The way they played and won will have brought them a lot of momentum and confidence.
It is back to Ligue 1, though, now for the Parisians with Reims in town. The Champions are still unbeaten in the league after winning 22 games and drawing four. They have been unplayable so far in this campaign and they won’t fear Reims, who have been struggling this season.
Edinson Cavani scored the winner against Chelsea which will boost his confidence after a poor start of 2016. He could even start on Saturday. Laurent Blanc will rotate his squad once again for this game. PSG are still in four competitions with the two cups as well as the league and the Champions League.
Only Javier Pastore is out after a new injury and Serge Aurier is still suspended by the club after the Auriergate last weekend when he insulted his manager and some of his teammates in a video on social media. Everybody else is fit and it will be an opportunity for Marco Verratti, just back from injury but who was outstanding against Chelsea, to get more game time.
PSG have not lost against Reims at home since 1971 and won their last three league encounters at the Parc des Princes.
The visitors are only 17th in the table, just two points clear of the bottom three but they have won two of their last three Ligue 1 matches. They have won once way from home since the start of December.
Reims are ready for a tough match on Saturday in Paris but they have nothing to lose and will try to follow the example of Lille, who defended very well to get a point (0-0) in Paris last weekend. However, I don’t think Reims can defend as well as Lille and PSG will get a win.
The odds are massively in favour of PSG with a home win at 1.20. The draw is at 7.00 and a Reims away win is at 16.00.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is favourite to score first at 3.05. My best tip is PSG to in both halves at 2.38.
Score prediction: PSG 3 Reims 0 at 7.00
Monaco – Troyes – Saturday 19:00 GMT
Monaco, second in the table, host Troyes, the bottom team who have only won two games in the league all season! It is a great opportunity for the hosts to strengthen further their grip on second place in the table, meaning they would qualify directly for the Champions League group stages.
L’ASM have only lost twice at home all season, and one of those defeats was against PSG early in the campaign. They are very strong at home at the moment and solid defensively too. Last weekend, they snatched a point at St Etienne very late thanks to Vagner Lover. The Brazilian striker, who arrived in January, scored his first goal for Monaco in a big game in the race for a top 3 finish. That will give him a lot of confidence and it shows he has integrated very well already. Love should get even better with more game time too.
Jeremy Toulalan and Lacina Traore are back in the squad but Monaco will still be without a few players like Nabil Dirar, Bernardo Silva, Fabio Coentrao or Ivan Cavaleiro.Joao Moutinho is also missing through suspension.
Still, Monaco have never lost at home against Troyes in the past but they could only draw 0-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. It could be a tricky game but Leonardo Jardim will make sure his players start the game well and score early to ensure they don’t drop points on Saturday.
Troyes have nothing to lose anymore. They know they will be in Ligue 2 next season and they will go for it on Saturday in Monaco. They won their last league game, away at Ajaccio last weekend (3-2) and played well. So they have some momentum going into this game. However, I don’t expect Monaco to drop points this weekend.
The odds are quite even with a Monaco home win at 1.35. A draw is at 4.75 and a Troyes away win is at 10.00.
Vagner Love is favourite to score first at 4.35. My best tip is Monaco to win without conceding a goal at 2.07.
Score prediction: Monaco 2 Troyes 0 at 6.75
