Julien Laurens' Ligue 1 Betting: Fletcher To Fire Marseille To Away Success As PSG Win Easily Again

Nantes – Monaco – 13:00 GMT

Nantes, sixth in the table, host Monaco, strong second, on Sunday and it is a very interesting game. Both teams are in good form. Monaco have strengthen their second place last weekend with a convincing win against Troyes (3-1). They have won three and drew one of their last four games in Ligue 1. They are now eight points clear of third place team Nice and fourth place St Etienne, with Lyon even further behind. They look very strong to finish in second place and qualify directly for next season’s Champions League. It would be a great achievement considering they lost some key players last summer.

Last weekend, Kylian Mbappé, just 17 years old, scored his first goal in Ligue 1 and became the club’s youngest player to do so. Collectively, Monaco are looking good with their injured players coming back too. Monaco have been good away from home this season in the league with only two defeats in 13 games, second best record behind PSG.

On the other hand, Nantes are unbeaten in their last 15 matches in all competitions. Their last defeat was away at Monaco, back in November (1-0). Since then, they have looked strong.

They are well organised, focused and efficient up front. They are only two points behind Nice in third after their great run of results. Sala has been scoring up front and plays with a lot of confidence since he refused to leave the club to join Wolves in January.

Michel Der Zakarian and his players have a game in hand too that they will play against Bastia next week. They don’t have a good record at home in Ligue 1 against Monaco, with just one win in Monaco’s last eight visits at the la Beaujoire stadium.

There are never many goals between those two teams and I predict a draw between them this time round.

The odds are in favour of Nantes with a home win is at 2.35. A draw is at 3.10 and a Monaco away win is at 3.30.

Kolbeinn Sigthorsson is favourite to score first at 6.40. My best tip is a draw and both teams to score at 4.80.

Score prediction: Nantes 1 Monaco 1 at 6.50

Gazelec Ajaccio – Marseille – 16:00 GMT

Three days after their very disappointing exit in Europe, Marseille travel to Ajaccio on Sunday to take on the Gazelec. It is another tricky game for them.

L’OM deserved to go through against Bilbao on Thursday night after one of their best performances of the season. They were 1-0 up and dominating for most of the game before conceding a goal in the last ten minutes that knocked them out of the competition. They were heartbroken and it was really hard to take. However, they were plenty of positives, including the partnership up front of Fletcher and Batshuayi.

Marseille created many chances but were never able to score a second goal that would have put them through. Now they need to overcome the disappointment to bounce back on Sunday in Corsica. They have been in fantastic form away from home this season in Ligue 1 though, so they will not fear this trip, even if it is a tricky one.

Michel, the manager, could start with a very similar line up than against Bilbao, with Batshuayi and Fletcher up front. It is two goals in his last two games for the Belgian international as well. They will have to be up for a fight, the Marseillais though, because Ajaccio will be very aggressive.

The hosts were unlucky last weekend not to beat Toulouse away from home (1-1). They were very well organised and deserved three points but conceded a very late goal. They are not in the form that saw them going 11 league games in a row unbeaten earlier in the season and they are back in the bottom three now, but just a point behind Reims. So they need more points and they will fight hard on Sunday to get some against Marseille. I think this game will finish in a draw though.

The odds are in favour of Marseille with an away win at 2.05. A draw is at 3.40 and a Gazelec home win is at 3.70.

Michy Batshuayi is favourite to score first at 5.00. My best tip is Steven Fletcher to score at 3.25.

Score prediction: Gazelec 1 Marseille 1 at 7.00

Lyon – PSG – 20:00 GMT

This is the big game of the weekend in Ligue 1, on Sunday evening between Lyon and PSG at the new stade des Lumières in Lyon. L’OL missed the opportunity to go third in the table last weekend after losing away at Lille.

Paris are leading Ligue 1 by whooping 24 points ahead of Monaco and are still unbeaten domestically all season. They have been impressive and will be favourite for this game once again. They have already beaten Lyon three times this season, once in Ligue 1, one in the League Cup and one in the French Cup. They are looking to make it four for the season.

Serge Aurier is the only player missing after his outburst ten days ago on social media. Pastore and Verratti have trained normally and are available. Laurent Blanc should pick his strongest team then. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in the form of his life with two more goals and assists last weekend against Reims (4-1) which makes it 23 goals and 10 assists in 21 league games so far this season! He loves playing against Lyon as well.

PSG have great momentum and confidence going into this game but are not taking anything for granted either. They know Lyon will be dying to be the first one to beat them this season in the league. But they are ready for it.

Lyon were very disappointed by their defeat last weekend at Lille. They had won their three previous Ligue 1 games before that, scoring 10 and only conceding one, but they were beaten by a better team last weekend. To make their evening worse, Grenier and Jallet got sent off and will miss this clash with Paris, as will Umtiti after getting another yellow card too.

So, it is a very weakened team that will host the Champions. Good news is that they are unbeaten since moving to their new stadium, where Alexandre Lacazette feels at home already with a goal in each of his appearances there. They also have a great record at home against PSG with just one defeat in their last ten encounters. However, I think Lyon will be beaten for a fourth time by PSG this season.

The odds are massively in favour of PSG with an away win at 1.80. The draw is at 3.60 and a Lyon home win is at 4.60.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is favourite to score first at 3.70. My best tip is PSG to win without conceding a goal at 3.05.

Score prediction: Lyon 0 PSG 2 at 9.50
