Guingamp – Marseille – Sunday 14:00 GMT
Marseille, who travel to Guingamp on Sunday, didn't start the season well last weekend at home against Toulouse (0-0). The players were booed off the pitch by the fans in a half empty stadium after a poor performance in which they hardly created any chances at all. They didn’t look like a team and even if they kept a clean sheet, they never really looked that secure at the back throughout the game. The manager Franck Passi has a lot of work to do there but this is a tricky game for the Marseillais.
Marseille could not add any players to the squad in the week while Thauvin and Bedimo came off injured last weekend against Toulouse. They are both a doubt for this game at Guingamp. Lassana Diarra and Abou Diaby should start again in midfield and will be fitter than last week where they didn’t bring enough to the team. Offensively, the team will rely heavily on Bafétimbi Gomis once again. He looks in good condition but he will need better service than against Toulouse.
For Guingamp, this is a prestigious game to play at home. The team was unlucky not to get three points at Monaco last weekend (2-2) but they looked good in the Principality and they looked much better than Marseille. They won’t take anything for granted but they believe they can get the three points on Sunday. I also think that Guingamp will beat Marseille.
The odds are slightly in favour of Marseille with an away win at 2.55. A draw is at 3.20 and a Guingamp home win is at 3.90.
Bafétimbi Gomis is favourite to score first at xxx. My best tip is Guingamp to win without conceding a goal at 4.50.
Score prediction: Guingamp 1 Marseille 0 at 8.50
PSG – Metz – Sunday 19:45 GMT
PSG host newly promoted Metz on Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes in their first home game of the season. The French champions were made to work hard last weekend at Bastia. They won narrowly but they will be in better shape on Sunday. Unai Emery and his players are very excited to play in front of their fans in a packed stadium and a great atmosphere.
Edinson Cavani is back after missing the game at Bastia last weekend. He will start up front and will have to cope with the pressure of replacing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, Jesé is out for three weeks after suffering from appendicitis. Thiago Silva is also out after his injury in pre-season but everybody else is available for the Parisians and Emery should continue in his 4-2-3-1 formation even if he tried a 4-3-3 at training this week with Ben Arfa - Cavani - Di Maria as a front three.
For Metz, this is a huge game to start their away campaign. They did start their season well last weekend with a home win against Lille (3-2). They are in good form but they know how difficult it will be in Paris on Sunday evening. They will try to keep a very defensive shape and not make any mistakes but they don’t expect much from this game. I think PSG will play much better than last weekend as well and will win comfortably.
The odds are massively in favour of PSG with a home win at 1.11. The draw is at 9.25 and a Metz away win is at 22.00.
Edinson Cavani is favourite to score first at xx. My best tip is PSG to win both halves at 1.95.
Score prediction: PSG 3 Metz 0 at 6.10
