Nancy – PSG – Saturday 16:00 GMT
PSG travel to Nancy on Saturday afternoon for the first game back after the international break. The Parisians beat Bordeaux easily at home before players left the capital to head to their respective national sides. They need to keep winning as it could be a huge weekend with Nice and Lyon facing each other, as well as Toulouse and Monaco squaring off.
PSG have by far the easiest match of the weekend against bottom team Nancy. They will have to play on an artificial pitch but they won’t mind too much. They feel refreshed after the international break. The atmosphere was a bit tense before, despite the wins against Bordeaux and Ludogorets. Emery and his players need to continue their winning streak and register a good series of results. There was a big discussion between senior players and the manager before the Ludogorets game to clear the air after some disappointing performances and two league defeats already at Monaco and Toulouse.
Pastore is still missing and he could be out until January. Everybody else is ready, although Thiago Silva, Di Maria, Cavani and Marquinhos only returned to Paris on Thursday. Cavani and Di Maria could start on the bench depending on how they feel on their return. Silva and Marquinhos should start at the back. They expect a tough game and their record is not great there with just one win in their last six visits!
For Nancy, this is the game of the season. The match is sold out and the tickets were sold in the space of a few hours. The team has been struggling so far this season. They are bottom of the table with just five points and one win! They will play five at the back and defend really deep. They will try to make life difficult for PSG. However, I still think the visitors will be far too strong and will win comfortably.
The odds are massively in favour of PSG with an away win at 1.35. The draw is at 5.00 and a Nancy home win is at 10.00.
Edinson Cavani is favourite to score first at 3.40. My best tip is PSG to win both halves at 3.10.
Score prediction: Nancy 0 PSG 3 at 8.50
Marseille – Metz – Sunday 19:45 GMT
Marseille host Metz on Sunday evening. They dropped two more points in Angers before the international break. It was a big blow for the team, they’re still only 14th in the table and in need of points. The club has announced that Frank McCourt will be officially the new owner from Monday. It is huge for the club as he has promised to invest a lot of money in the team to compete with PSG for the title in years to come.
This game is a big opportunity for Marseille to climb up in the table. They have been solid at home and played some good football, especially against Nantes three weeks ago and in the draw against Lyon.
Unfortunately, once again, the stadium will be mostly empty because the fans are not happy with the old ownership and disappointed by the start of the season. However, Lassana Diarra is back and will start in midfield. He is the captain and it is a huge boost for l’OM to have him back. He will certainly improve the team. Bafétimbi Gomis will start up front. he has been the leader offensively with five league goals already and he is working very hard for the team. Franck Passi, the manager, will hope that Diarra will help make the team stronger defensively. Going forward, though, they are very good with Thauvin, Njie, Cabella, Alessandrini or Sarr. Njie should be back for this game which is a big boost.
Metz lost 7-0 at home in their last match. They were absolutely dreadful against Monaco and it could be another difficult evening. They would be very happy with a draw, however, I feel Marseille will get the three points on Sunday.
The odds are massively in favour of Marseille with a home win at 1.50. A draw is at 4.25 and a Metz away win is at 6.75.
Bafétimbi Gomis is favourite to score first at 4.40. My best tip is Marseille to win without conceding a goal at 2.55.
Score prediction: Marseille 2 Metz 0 at 8.00
