Caen – PSG – Saturday 16:00 GMT
PSG, the leaders, have the opportunity to finish the first part of the season unbeaten, which would be a big achievement. They travel to fourth placed Caen on Saturday afternoon and it’s a tricky game in many ways for Paris.
The Champions went through to the League Cup quarter final on Wednesday evening against St Etienne. Laurent Blanc played a reserve team and PSG didn’t play well but they won the match and all the big players will be back for the last game of the year on Saturday. Trapp, Silva, Motta, Aurier, Maxwell, Di Maria, Cavani and Matuidi were all rested or only subs in midweek. They will start and Blanc will want his players to reproduce the display they put on against Lyon last Sunday where they thrashed their opponents 5-1. The Parisians are full of confidence, on an incredible run and they will be very hard for Caen to stop.
But the home team will have no pressure at all. No one in France has managed to beat PSG since March. So Caen will play as big underdogs, even at home and will try to create the biggest upset of the season so far. They have a good record at home this season with just three defeats in their nine home league matches.
Caen are very good on set pieces and could cause problems to the PSG defence from a dead ball. They like to play on the counter with their pace up front and with PSG always having a lot of the ball, Caen will have to take their opportunities to break and try to hit Paris with counter attacks. However, PSG will be very motivated to finish the first part of the season unbeaten and will be very focused . In that case, it will be very hard for Caen to get something out of this game and I can see Paris getting the three points.
The odds are massively in favour of PSG with an away win at 1.48. The draw is at 4.25 and a Caen win is at 7.10.
Edinson Cavani is favourite to score first at 3.95. My best tip is PSG to win and both teams to score at 3.20.
Score prediction: Caen 1 PSG 3 at 14.00
Troyes – Monaco – Saturday 19:00 GMT
Monaco has a great opportunity to finish the year on a high with the visit of Troyes, bottom of the table, on Saturday evening. Troyes are yet to win a single game this season in Ligue 1, they are without a manager and are already 12 points from safety.
Monaco, on the other hand, are going strong, despite their defeat in the League Cup in midweek at Bordeaux. Leonardo Jardim, the manager, decided to rotate his squad a lot and play with a lot of youngsters. Moutinho, Lacina Traoré and Stafan El Shaarawi are also back in the group, so the big boys will be back on Saturday for this game. L’ASM, without Contrao and Carrillo, are unbeaten in their last five league games and they are in excellent form away from home this season, with just one defeat in their nine league matches outside of the Stade Louis II. They will feel strong and confident travelling to Troyes on Saturday.
For the home side, the situation is terrible. Troyes are in desperate need of a win. The club is yet to appoint a new manager after sacking Jean-Marc Furlan a couple of weeks ago. The players have lost all confidence. They still want to believe they can turn things around but it will be very difficult and I think Monaco will be solid and efficient on Saturday and will win the game,
The odds are in massive favour of Monaco with an away win at 1.90. A draw is at 3.50 and a Troyes home win is at 4.15
Latina Traoré is favourite to score first at 6.00. My best tip is Monaco to win without conceding a goal at 3.00.
Score prediction: Troyes 0 Monaco 1 at 7.50
