PSG – Lille – Saturday 16:00 GMT
PSG host Lille on Saturday afternoon at the Parc des Princes, three days before their clash with Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday. This is will be their final rehearsal before hosting the English champions and they want to make sure that they get a big win to get as much confidence and momentum possible.
The Parisians are still unbeaten this season in domestic competition. Their only defeat was against Real Madrid (1-0) in the Champions League group stages. They beat Marseille at the Vélodrome last Sunday (2-1) but didn’t play well. They then got a good victory against Lyon (3-0) in midweek in the French Cup, thanks to two more goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Laurent Blanc will rest most of the key players. Javier Pastore is back training normally and could start, as well as Van der Wiel, who is also back in the squad. Marco Verratti is still a doubt and Ezequiel Lavezzi is about to leave the club to move to China. Blanc and his players want to avoid injuries more than anything else.
The hosts have a great record at home in the league against Lille. They battered them 6-1 last season and haven’t lost against them in their last 10 visits. Overall, PSG haven’t lost at home in Ligue 1 since May 2014, more than 620 days ago! They might play with a bit of complacency, as they have done in the last three games, but they are still confident and expect to get an easy win against strugglers Lille.
It will be very difficult indeed for the visitors. They are 15th in the table and embroiled in a big relegation battle. They have only won one of their last seven league games and will be without their best player, Sofiane Boufal, who is suspended after getting sent off last weekend. Eder is injured and Basa not ready yet, so it will be a weakened Lille side.
They will try to defend as well as they can and for as long as they can. They will definitely play for a draw and try to play on the counter with Benzia and Tallo up front. Lille will try to make it difficult for Paris but I don’t think they will be able to stop PSG from scoring and I see the league leaders winning on Saturday, even if their mind will be already set on the Chelsea game.
The odds are massively in favour of PSG with a home win at 1.40. The draw is at 4.70 and a Lille away win is at 9.00.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is favourite to score first at 3.25. My best tip is the score to be 0-0 at half time at 2.85.
Score prediction: PSG 2 Lille 0 at 6.30
