PSG – Guingamp
For the first time in 18 months, PSG have failed to win for two Ligue 1 games in a row. They drew again on Saturday, away at Reims, just as they did a week before at home against Bordeaux. They face Guingamp at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening and they need to react.
They didn’t play well at Reims and once again struggled to focus on a league game after a Champions League week. Edinson Cavani snatched a point for the Champions after they went behind eight minutes from time. The Uruguayan is in great form with six goals scored in his last four matches in all competitions.
It is not the same for Zlatan Ibrahimovic though. The Swede has lost confidence and is yet to score so far this season. He has not found the net now for 421 minutes in an official game. His longest drought at PSG is 461 minutes between August and November 2014. He missed a sitter at Reims and overall his display was very poor. He is not totally fit and he could only start on the bench on Tuesday, although, this game could be a good one to really kick-start his season: last season, he scored twice in this fixture and once the previous year too.
Blanc rotated his team against Reims with no Matuidi, Motta, Aurier, Maxwell, David Luiz, Cavani or Di Maria in the starting XI. Their replacements were very disappointing at the weekend and they will all be back for this game. Paris need to bounce back, despite still being unbeaten this season and still being top of the table. PSG have a great home record against Guingamp with just one defeat in nine encounters. They have won the last four scoring 15 goals and conceding none.
It would be a big upset for eighth in the table Guingamp to get something out of this game. But at least they are coming to the Parc des Princes full of confidence. After losing their first three Ligue 1 games this season, they have won the last three: against Marseille, at Nice and against Ajaccio. They are playing some good football and their key players (Sankharé, Briand, Privat) are all in good form.
However, I think PSG will take this game very seriously and will be too strong for the visitors, with Zlatan scoring his first goal of the season too.
The odds are massively in favour of PSG with a home win at 1.18. The draw is at 7.00 and a Guingamp away win is at 16.50.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is my favourite to score first at 3.65 and my best tip is PSG to win both halves at 2.32.
Score prediction: PSG 3 Guingamp 0 at 6.75
