Julien Laurens's Ligue 1 Betting: PSG To Win & Put Bad Week Behind Them

Nice 6.25 Draw 3.90 PSG 1.55

PSG had a horrible Wednesday this week. Not only they were thrashed by Barcelona in the Champions League quarter final first leg (3-1) at the Parc des Princes but they also saw Lyon going back to the top of Ligue 1 after beating Bastia at home (2-0).

The Parisians trail the leaders by two points but still have a game in hand to play and the possibility to overtake Lyon again. However, they won’t have to wait for April the 28th and their game in hand against Metz to do so. they can overtake Lyon on Saturday afternoon if they beat Nice away. The pressure will be massive though. Three days after losing to Barça, this is a very difficult trip.

Even if Nice has been poor at home this season, winning only five of their sixteen home league games, they are capable of big performances like when they beat Marseille (2-1) back in January. The Parisians are big favourites and maybe playing so soon after the Barcelona disappointment is a good thing. They could get some of their confidence back.

They will have to do without Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is suspended. The problem is that he is not the only big player missing. Marco Verratti, arguably PSG’s best player this season, is also out suspended. Thiago Silva picked up an injury on Wednesday and will miss the game as well. At least Thiago Motta could be back and David Luiz should also start after playing 70 minutes on Wednesday. The Barça hammering could have caused a few issues psychologically.

The PSG players were really down after the game and tiredness is starting to creep in as well. This will be their fifth game in thirteen days! Blanc will rotate his team with Digne, Aurier and Lucas coming in as well but it is definitely the right time for Nice to play against Paris at home.

Claude Puel’s have a poor record at home like we said but they are always capable of good performances on their day. They went to win at Lyon (2-1) a few weeks ago. Marseille lost at the Allianz Riviera too. Nice scored seven away at Guingamp (7-2) earlier in the season. The problem for the team is its inconsistency.

They go by series: they are now unbeaten in their last three league games but before that, they had lost four in row and drawn three too! And before that bad series of seven games without a win, they did get three victories in a row in the league. It will be a big task for them on Saturday against PSG but they have the momentum and the confidence to cause them problems.

However, I think that the Champions will be too strong on the day even if I can see them conceding a goal after keeping only three clean sheets in their last thirteen games in all competitions.

Best bet: Edinson Cavani is favourite to score first at 4.75. My best tip is PSG to win and both teams to score at 4.25

Score prediction: Nice 1-2 PSG 9.50
