Guingamp 3.00, draw 3.15, Marseille 2.45 – Saturday 16.00
Marseille have been struggling so far this season under Marcelo Bielsa. With one point in two games, the team has started poorly when everybody was expecting so much from the Argentine manager.
Nothing has been working so far and the home defeat to Montpellier last Sunday was embarrassing to watch. Like Monaco, Marseille have to react and kickstart their season with a win but they are not going into this game in the best of moods. They still have not signed a defender which is crazy considering they have just conceded five goals in two games.
There is already a rift between Bielsa and some of the players who don't understand his choices tactically. The coach has used two different tactical formations and the players seemed a bit lost at times.
Bielsa has tried to stay positive but he is also often very frustrated with his men. Defensively, they have been a shambles so far. Despite their win last year on the opening day of the season, the Marseille players know Guingamp is a tough place to travel to. After losing to l'OM last season, Guingamp went on a very good run of results at home.
They were one of the surprises of last season after winning the French Cup and staying up too. They will have to confirm this year and it is looking difficult already, but they have faith and a great manager in Jocelyn Gourvenec. They will have the support of a sell-out crowd too in their intimidating Stade du Roudourou.
It's the right time to play Marseille as they are totally out of form. However, I think Marseille will finally get it right and get their first win this weekend.
Andre-Pierre Gignac is favourite to score first at 5.75. My best tip is both teams to score in the second half at 3.95.
Score prediction: Guingamp 1 Marseille 2 at 10.50
Nantes 3.60, draw 3.20, Monaco 2.12 – Sunday 20.00
Two games, two defeats: the start of Monaco's season under new manager Leonardo Jardim could not have started in a worse fashion. They struggled against Lorient at home and lost in the dying minutes of the game (2-1) before being battered in the second half last Sunday at Bordeaux (4-1).
The players are not fit enough to perform over 90 minutes, the new coach keeps getting it wrong tactically and Monaco have been the biggest disappointment so far this season. They need to bounce back and do better.
After being left twice on the bench at kick-off, Radamel Falcao is finally expected to start his first Ligue 1 game since January 19th before his big ACL injury. The team from the Principality will need their best player to carry them out from the black hole they are in right now.
Joao Moutinho, so bad since the start of the season, also has to step up a gear, like a few others, because Falcao won't be able to do it all by himself.
It is probably a good thing for Jardim and his team to play away from home once again as well. It will be less pressure and more focus. Monaco won at Nantes last season and they simply can't afford another result this season again. On the other hand, Nantes are fifth in the table after getting four points against promoted teams, Lens first (1-0) and at Metz last weekend (1-1). But they are struggling offensively, to create and to score.
Djordjevic has not been replaced and I think they will find it really difficult against a Monaco that will make sure they defend better. It is a big game for Nantes but it would be a good result for them not to lose. Whereas Monaco have to win. And I think they will finally get it right and get their first success of the season.
Falcao is favourite to score first at 4.10. My best tip is Berbatov to score though, at 1.80.
Score prediction: Nantes 0 Monaco 1 at 6.00
