Metz 7.50 Draw 4.35 PSG 1.44
Two weeks after their victory against Marseille in Le Classique (2-0), PSG face another tricky game away from home at Metz on Friday evening.
The promoted side is the surprise package of the season so far in Ligue 1. They are 9th in the table and still unbeaten at home.
They have a strong collective with players playing for each other and with a great team spirit. They are not scoring much (13 in 13 league games) but they have been efficient up front.
They don’t create many chances but they are clinical. Also, only Lyon, Marseille and Paris have a better home record than Metz this season.
They are always tough to break down and to beat. Florent Malouda, the former Chelsea player, has brought some much needed experience in a young squad. However, they are yet to play Marseille, PSG, Monaco or Bordeaux this season.
And this game against PSG will be a step too high for Metz, who lost 3-0 at Toulouse in the last league game a couple of weeks ago.
Indeed, the Champions are on a run now. They have won their last six league games in all competitions. They are playing better and are more solid than they did a month ago. The win against Marseille gave a massive boost of momentum and confidence.
They are back a point behind their arch rivals but the momentum is on their side. And on top of that, Ibra is back. He is not fully fit just yet but he is fit enough to start on Friday. Blaise Matuidi is also in the squad, but David Luiz, Marco Verratti and Lucas Moura are out.
The team has done well without him but he brings PSG to another dimension when he is on the pitch. In his absence, Cavani has scored five goals in his last five games in all competition but the Uruguayan will have to make space for the Swede and go back on the wing. Matuidi is out for the game after broken his hand while Verratti and Lucas face late fitness tests but should be ok.
If they beat Metz on Friday, the Parisians will go top of the table for the first time this season so they are very motivated and it will be difficult for Metz to stop them.
Best bet: PSG to win both halves at 3.55
Score prediction: Metz 0-2 PSG at 6.75
