Premier League Betting: Liverpool v Fulham - Fan v Fan Preview

Liverpool perspective: Antoine Zammit, Empire of the Kop.

Team news

As the festive schedule gets underway, Liverpool have no option other than to get all three points when they host Fulham on Saturday. After the shocking 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa the Reds need to bounce back quickly and rebuild Fortress Anfield. Martin Kelly is the only long term injury, although Fabio Borini is unlikely to feature on Saturday as he steps up his recovery. Jose Enrique might return to the starting line-up for this fixture.

Form

After back-to-back Barclays Premier League wins, Liverpool suffered a humiliating against Villa at Anfield. We started off strongly but missed opportunities proved costly again. It has been pretty much the story of our season: the possession is good but the results do not reflect that. We need to start being more clinical and killing off opponents, especially when playing at Anfield.

Head-to-head

Liverpool have played Fulham 63 times, winning 35 and drawing 16 games. In the same fixture last season, Fulham beat the Reds 1-0 thanks to a Martin Skrtel own goal. That was the first time ever that Fulham won a game at Anfield.

Best bets

Liverpool win at 1.50. I fancy us to get back on track after last week's disappointment.

Luis Suarez to score first at 4.00. The Uruguayan came close a few times against Villa, so hopefully he'll convert an early chance this time around.

Liverpool clean sheet at 2.35. Our defence looked good before the West Ham game, and hopefully Jose Enrique's return will help us keep Fulham out.

Score prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Fulham (8.50)

Team news

Martin Jol's hopes of recovering from last weekend's shambolic derby defeat at QPR were dealt a blow by the news that German full-back Sascha Riether could be ruled out with a hamstring injury. Republic of Ireland right back Stephen Kelly, who hasn't had much of a look in this term despite excelling last season, should deputise. Jol is also without Costa Rican playmaker Bryan Ruiz, who expects to be back before the end of the year.

Form

Fulham's fine start to the season is something of a distant memory. Despite a narrow victory over Newcastle recently, local pride is a little bruised following the meek capitulation to a QPR side who hadn't mustered a single league win playing us.

Head-to-head

Our record at Anfield was utterly abysmal until last season, when a deflected strike from former Liverpool winger Alex Kacaniklic gave us our first ever top flight win on Merseyside. Prior to that victory Fulham's trips to Anfield were memorable for all the wrong reasons - two League Cup thumpings, one of which saw a young Robbie Fowler run riot on debut, spring to mind.

Best bets

Over 2.5 goals at 1.67. Both sides like to play adventurous, attacking football and have been far from convincing at the back this season.

Liverpool to win at 1.50. The Reds will be anxious to bounce back from last weekend's defeat by Aston Villa and exact some revenge for last season's slip-up against us.

Draw/Liverpool HT/FT at 4.40. We could be in for a cagey game if Jol adopts a similar gameplan to last season.

Score prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Fulham (8.00)
