Premier League Betting: Liverpool v Man City - Fan v Fan Preview

Liverpool perspective: Antoine Zammit, Empire of the Kop.

Liverpool host Manchester City on Sunday, hoping to bounce back from the humiliating defeat at West Bromwich Albion last Saturday.

The gaffer has headache in defence, as Daniel Agger is banned after being red carded last Sunday. Jose Enrique, Andy Carroll and Joe Cole are all coming off injuries and might not be available to start.

Liverpool struggled against Hearts in midweek, but however a late own goal secured the victory which the Reds needed. Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson and Lucas Leiva did not feature on Thursday, so should all feature on Sunday. New signing Oussama Aissadi will likely begin on the bench.

In defence, Jamie Carragher should partner with Martin Skrtel. Brendan Rodgers might even try to put Stewart Downing in the left-back position like he did for the last few minutes of the Hearts game, which seemed to work. Hopefully Luis Suarez has his shooting boots, on as we desperately need to improve in front of goal.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Man City.

1-1 at 6.50, both teams to score at 1.70, Luis Suarez to score first at 7.00.

Man City perspective: Ric Turner, Blue Moon.

City started the season with a nervy, unconvincing 3-2 victory over newly-promoted Southampton and face a difficult to visit to Merseyside this weekend. Our record at Anfield is woeful, with just one win in 16 attempts during the Premier League era, but Sunday’s game presents a good opportunity to end that dismal run.

City are missing first-choice striker Sergio Aguero, although thankfully his knee injury isn’t as serious as first feared. Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli are on standby to partner Carlos Tevez up front, with the Argentine starting the season brightly after seemingly reconciling his differences with manager Roberto Mancini. He appears leaner and more focussed than he has done for some time, and is effectively like a new signing for City.

It’s as good a time as any to face Liverpool, with Brendan Rodgers still getting to grips with his squad. Anfield is rarely a happy hunting ground for the Blues, though, so I fancy a draw.

Predicted score: Liverpool 1-1 Man City.

Carlos Tevez to score first at 7.00, under 2.5 goals at 1.82, the draw at 3.40.
