Premier League Betting: Newcastle v Liverpool - Fan v Fan Preview

Newcastle United perspective: Mark Jensen, The Mag

Team news

The injury picture is slightly blurred. Cheik Tiote, Hatem Ben Arfa and Fabricio Coloccini are all back training but it's not yet clear whether they are fit enough to start. I think Tiote will make the side with Ben Arfa an option off the bench once more. Tim Krul, Sylvain Marveaux and Davide Santon are all definitely out.

Form

United’s draw at West Brom summed up the team's recent form: we were excellent in the first half but feeble in the second. Gaining a point at least prevented a domino effect after the shocking 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.

Head-to-head

While Newcastle haven’t won at Anfield in the Premier League for almost 20 years and have at times suffered at home, victory this time would be our third in a row at St James' Park. Last time out, a classic double from Papiss Cisse won us the points.

Best bets

Newcastle to win at 2.95. We have everything to play for so I expect us to return to winning ways.

Draw/Newcastle HT/FT at 7.50. I expect Liverpool to test us early on, before we grab the win after the interval.

Over 4.5 goals at 6.00. I fancy a more open game than we've seen at St James' of late.

Score prediction: Newcastle 3-2 Liverpool (28.00)

Predicted side

Liverpool perspective: Antoine Zammit, Empire of the Kop

Team news

Joe Allen is out for the rest of the season, but Fabio Borini is back in training and might make the bench. Martin Kelly is making a good recovery but Brendan Rodgers has hinted that he will not play again this term. Raheem Sterling might feature after being out for a couple of weeks due to a thigh injury. Luis Suarez will serve the first part of a ten-game ban.

Form

Liverpool have now failed to win any of their last three games, which really isn't good enough. Everton are now four points ahead and catching them is going to be difficult now there are only four games left. A win against Newcastle is a now must if we wish to challenge for a Europa League spot. Suarez was in top form and will be a big loss, but both Phillipe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge have stepped up in recent weeks.

Head-to-head

We've met Newcastle on 136 occasions, winning 75. In last November's game at Anfield, Suarez cancelled outa first-half Cabaye goal as the sides shared the points.

Best bets

Liverpool to win at 2.35. After three draws, it's essential that we get maximum points here.

Daniel Sturridge to score at 2.70. Sturridge will lead the line in Suarez's absence and will be keen to make an impression.

Liverpool clean sheet at 3.35. Newcastle haven't been scoring too many, so I can see us keeping a clean sheet on Saturday.

Score prediction: Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool (9.25)
