Premier League Betting: QPR v Norwich - Fan v Fan Preview

QPR perspective

Team news

This match will likely come too early for Christopher Samba, who only completed his move from Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday. Ryan Nelsen's departure means Stephane Mbia could come into the back four, with Fabio continuing on the left of midfield. Loic Remy will play up front, supported by the in-form Adel Taarabt.

Form

Aside from the FA Cup humbling at the hands of MK Dons, Rangers have been in decent nick. Wins against West Brom and Chelsea have been interspersed with creditable draws against the liks of Man City and Spurs. Harry Redknapp's side still remain bottom of the table, but hope is in the air.

Head-to-head

QPR haven't beaten Norwich since 2008, when a Martin Rowlands strike gave them a win in the Championship. The Canaries have won four of the six meetings since then, meaning that QPR will have to buck a recent trend to earn three points on Saturday.

Best bets

'No' for both teams to score at 1.95. Neither of these sides has been particularly free-scoring of late, so this could be a tight one.

Adel Taarabt to score at 3.20. The mercurial Moroccan should continue his impressive recent form with a goal at Loftus Road.

Draw/QPR HT/FT at 5.25. Both sides will look to keep things tight early, but home advantage could tell after the break.

Score prediction: QPR 1-0 Norwich (7.75)

Team news

We continue to have a largely clean bill of health, and may well welcome Steven Whittaker back into the first team after his appearance on the bench against Spurs. Mark Bunn will continue in goal after an excellent performance in midweek, while the return to fitness of Sebastien Bassong gave the defence a solidity it has lacked over the Christmas/new year period.

Form

Our form has been poor for the last six weeks or so, but there were positive signs in the Spurs game. Even over the Christmas period we were strong in defeat, going down to a single goal against both Chelsea and Man City. It was the uninspiring performances against West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool which caused a bit of panic. Hopefully a good run is on the horizon.

Head-to-head

Our form against QPR in recent years has been strong. Last year they were one of a few sides who we did the double over, winning 2-1 on both occasions (and helped slightly in the Loftus Road game by a hilarious red card given to Joey Barton). Earlier this season we played out a tight 1-1 draw, a game which we were unlucky not to win as we bounced back from the opening day thrashing by Fulham.

Best bets

The draw at 2.4. With QPR’s recent form and our tendency to be less attacking away from home, this is tempting.

Under 2.5 goals at 1.82. Our defence is always strengthened by the presence of Bassong, while QPR may play Chris Samba. With both teams sometimes struggling for goals, this looks a good shout.

Luciano Becchio to score at 3.45. The striker has scored 15 goals at Championship level already this seaso and will be raring to go.

Score prediction: QPR 1-1 Norwich (6.5)
