Liverpool 1.44, the draw 4.70, Hull City 7.50
The Reds may have ended a poor run with two straight league wins but the victories over West Brom and QPR were less than convincing. That leaves definite value in a Hull side who held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw away from home and were unlucky not to head back with all three points.
Steve Bruce’s men are generally resilient against the top sides but home advantage here should help the game go with the favourites. Elsewhere, after another difficult week, Mario Balotelli to score anytime looks a tempting option but what could we expect by way of a celebration if the Italian does find the net?
Best Bet: Mario Balotelli to score anytime 2.18
Score Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Hull City 10.00
Southampton 1.60, the draw 4.05, Stoke City 5.85
After romping past Sunderland with eight goals last weekend, Southampton’s odds have shortened for this fixture but you can never write off a Stoke team who came away with the points from the Etihad earlier this season.
Mark Hughes’ side are generally very hard to break down so Graziano Pelle, at 4.00 to open the scoring, is a key man here but few will expect another feast of goals. Form suggests another Saints victory but the Potters are among the best at upsetting the odds so I’m backing a share of the points at St Mary’s.
Best Bet: Both teams to score 1.90
Score Prediction: Southampton 1-1 Stoke City 8.00
Sunderland 5.15, the draw 3.90, Arsenal 1.69
Those wanting to put a positive spin on Arsenal’s season will point to the fact that the Gunners have lost just once in the league but five draws in eight games leaves Arsene Wenger in mid-table and under pressure.
Sunderland’s heavy defeat at Southampton was something of a blip but like Saturday’s opponents, too many draws are stifling the early campaign for Gus Poyet’s side. That might suggest a share of the points as a probable outcome and while that’s tempting at 3.90, I expect Arsenal to edge it – possibly deep into injury time.
Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals 1.87
Score Prediction: Sunderland 1-2 Arsenal 9.00
West Brom 1.87, the draw 3.50, Crystal Palace 4.50
The Eagles only seem to defy my predictions when I tip them to win and that can mess with your mind when parting with your stake. It’s a winnable game against a West Brom side who sit two places and one point ahead of Palace and although the Baggies have taken points from Spurs and Manchester United, Alan Irvine’s men tend to struggle against the teams around them.
Saido Berahino is the man of the moment and Eagles’ supporters will no doubt be relieved that I’m backing the England Under-21 man to edge the game for West Brom. Back the home win with Berahino to score anytime.
Best Bet: Saido Berahino to score anytime 2.25
Score Prediction: West Brom 2-1 Crystal Palace 9.00
Spurs 1.72, the draw 3.85, Newcastle United 4.95
Tottenham are odds on and although it’s always dangerous to back them in a European week, two clear positives from their win over Asteras should help Mauricio Pochettino’s side to take the points.
Hat trick hero Harry Kane should finally get his Premier League chance but much depends on whether Erik Lamela can take his confidence and skill into the league where he faces much better sides. Newcastle won here last season but without Loic Remy, who scored the only goal that day, I can’t see them extending an improved run of results.
Best Bet: Erik Lamela to score anytime 3.55
Score Prediction: Spurs 2-0 Newcastle United 9.00
