Premier League betting: Saturday's 3pm kick-offs previewed

Crystal Palace 9.00, the draw 4.35, Chelsea 1.40

Two points from a possible 15 have put the Eagles back in trouble and more worrying for Tony Pulis is the fact that his side have scored just once in their last five. The positive is that Palace don’t concede too many – their record of 39 conceded is the same as Liverpool’s – so the expected rout might not drop in.

I do expect Chelsea to win however although that defeat to Villa shows their vulnerability. Take the away win but it could be low scoring so under 2.5 goals looks good at 1.75.

Score Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea (6.25)

Southampton 1.70, the draw 3.80, Newcastle United 4.85

The Saints will consider themselves unlucky to have lost to a late winner at Spurs last weekend and while current form is a little mixed, it should be enough to take the points from unpredictable Newcastle.

Southampton have three wins and three defeats from their last six league matches while Newcastle come into this fixture with an identical record. Only one point separates them in the table and all of that information might point to a draw, but home advantage helps the Saints edge it with an anytime goal for Adam Lallana at 3.55.

Score Prediction: Southampton 2-1 Newcastle United (8.50)

Stoke City 2.10, the draw 3.25, Hull City 3.65

The Potters have proved to be my betting nemesis this season and a recent win against West Ham was the latest in a line of home victories that I wasn’t on. Wins over Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have turned the Britannia into a fortress and home form will keep Stoke up once again.

Hull come here having won just one of their last four games and having lost keeper Allan McGregor for the rest of the season, it should be an uncomfortable afternoon for the Tigers. Get on the home win and back Peter Odemwingie to maintain his scoring form with an anytime goal at a generous 3.50.

Score Prediction: Stoke City 3-1 Hull City (19.00)

Swansea City 1.68, the draw 3.85, Norwich City 5.35

A bad run of form has seen the Swans drop below Norwich as the Canaries continue to pick off the teams around them. Last week’s 2-0 win over Sunderland was the seventh home game without defeat at Carrow Road but sadly for Norwich they are poor on the road.

The kindest thing you can say about Swansea’s form is that it’s mixed but they deserved a point at Arsenal in midweek and should take the win with both teams scoring at 1.95.

Score Prediction: Swansea City 2-1 Norwich City (8.50)

West Brom 1.80, the draw 3.70, Cardiff City 4.65

West Brom’s Youssouf Mulumbu describes this game as a ‘final’ and with both sides desperate for the points, we could see an attacking game with over 2.5 goals seemingly a safe punt at 1.88. The Baggies took a vital win away at Swansea but that was their only victory in a dismal run that has lasted for a long 12 matches.

Cardiff’s form is almost as poor but far from a cagey affair, I’m backing a high scoring draw in what could pass as the dictionary definition of a ‘six-pointer’.

Score Prediction: West Brom 2-2 Cardiff City (14.00)
