Premier League betting: Saturday's 3pm kick-offs previewed

Aston Villa 2.02, the draw 3.50, Fulham 3.85

Paul Lambert’s Villa look to be safe for another Premier League season and a win against basement club Fulham will go a long way towards sealing that survival. Back to back 4-1 defeats to Manchester United and Stoke however, suggest that the visitors have a chance of sneaking  a positive result, despite the fact that The Cottagers have won just one of their last 12 league games.

Aston Villa will be hurt by the loss of Christian Benteke, even though the Belgian hasn’t been at his best this season, but I’m staying with my first instinct of a home win. Add over 2.50 goals at 1.80.

Score Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham 15.00

Cardiff City 2.42, the draw 3.20, Crystal Palace 3.15

Palace continue to defy my predictions and their win at home to Chelsea last week was the latest in a run of Eagles’ victories that I had failed to back. Tony Pulis’ men are amongst the toughest to predict and can easily follow that result with a poor performance against third from bottom Cardiff.

The Bluebirds gained a useful draw at West Brom last week and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men have taken results from the teams around them so I’m backing another share of the points with under 2.5 goals this time at 1.58.

Score Prediction: Cardiff City 1-1 Crystal Palace 6.50

Hull City 2.72, the draw 3.20, Swansea City 2.75

Hull’s good form since the acquisition of Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic seems to have evaporated and Steve Bruce’s men come into this game on the back of two straight defeats. The Tigers may have one eye on a Wembley date next weekend but still need points to guarantee safety.

Swansea are in a similar position, without the distraction of the FA Cup and have the same number of points as their opponents with each having played 32 games. Garry Monk’s side have the better form but I’m tipping home advantage to give Hull the edge. Add an anytime goal for Jelavic at 3.35.

Score Prediction: Hull City 2-1 Swansea City 11.00

Newcastle United 4.00, the draw 3.60, Manchester United 1.95

While it’s impossible to ignore Manchester United’s overall season and their recent home defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City, form has improved and should be enough to seal three points against Newcastle on Saturday.

Robin van Persie may be missing but David Moyes’ team were impressive against an admittedly weak Aston Villa side and I expect them to continue to pick up wins against the teams below them.

Newcastle have lost their last two games, scoring none and conceding seven and whilst Manchester United are another side to have spoiled many of my betting slips this season, I would take the away win with an anytime goal for Danny Welbeck at 3.00.

Score Prediction: Newcastle United 1-3 Manchester United 15.00

Norwich City 2.40, the draw 3.30, West Bromwich Albion 3.10

The key to this game lies in Norwich’s home form and while last week’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea was the latest in a long line of poor away performances, the Canaries are strong at Carrow Road. Chris Hughton’s men are unbeaten in seven home matches and have taken points off Manchester City and Spurs in that period.

West Brom meanwhile have just one win in 11 and this game should go with form and return a comfortable home victory at 2.40.

Score Prediction: Norwich City 2-0 West Bromwich Albion 11.00
