Spurs perspective: Matt Harris, TottenhamBlog
Head coach Andre Villas-Boas claims there is a possibility that Scott Parker may be involved on Sunday but it’s hard to see the midfielder displacing the impressive Sandro. AVB also confirmed that Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Michael Dawson and Gareth Bale are unlikely to be fit so this should see an unchanged side from the one that lost to Everton last weekend.
Everton ended a run of three straight Spurs’ wins with two late goals last Sunday but prior to that winning run we had lost three in a row. The statistic claiming that we would be top of the league if games had ended after 80 minutes has been doing the rounds this week but it is a telling one. Spurs tend to sit back and invite pressure at the death and this is something for Villas-Boas to address in order to provide more consistency.
Head to head
Spurs took four points from Swansea last season and Emmanuel Adebayor scored two late goals to seal a 3-1 win at the Lane. This was the only time the sides had met here in the Premiership but historically, Tottenham have won 12 out of 14 league meetings.
Both teams to score at 1.60 – provides consistent returns when Spurs are involved
Emmanuel Adebayor double at 7.50 – a good price for an outside bet
Over 2.5 goals at 1.62 – it should be an attacking game from both sides
Score Prediction: Spurs 3-1 (12.50)
Swansea perspective: Jim White, SCFC2
The Swans will be missing Pablo Hernandez again which is a blow as he had been starting to show his class in the games before he was injured. Michel Vorm is still a few days away from fitness and so Gerhard Tremmel will continue in goal. Leon Britton was missing from the Swans last league game against Norwich but will return and is likely to partner Ki Sung Yung and Jonathan de Guzman in midfield with Michu starting up front again.
If I had written this before last weekend, I would have said we were on top form after 8 games unbeaten and a great win against Arsenal at the Emirates 2 weeks ago. Norwich however put paid to our unbeaten run with their win last weekend and made the normally solid Swans defence look shaky.
Our general form has been good and the team are really starting to show they have taken their passing game onto a new level with Michu's goals the icing on a slick style of play
Spurs took 4 points off the Swans last season but if you look back at that game it was Spurs' class up front was the difference between the 2 teams. Adebayor scored twice at the lane and so the Swans will have to watch out for him or Defoe again if they are to get anything from the game
A Swansea Win at 5.2 - generous odds considering what Swansea did to Arsenal a couple of weeks ago!
Swansea having over 5 corners at 2.00 are good odds.
Michu to score anytime at 3.35 is certainly worth a fiver considering the hot scoring streak he is on!
Score Prediction: Spurs 1-1 Swansea (7.75)
