Premier League Betting: Swansea v Everton - Fan v Fan Preview

Swansea perspective: James White, SCFC2.

Team News

The Swans face the prospect of playing this game without both centre halves that started the season with skipper Ashley Williams a doubt. Chances are that he will come through but Michael ‘the suitcase’ Laudrup has a few other decisions to make, with Britton & De Guzman both missing training this week & Pablo Hernandez pushing hard for a start after impressing last week at Aston Villa.

Form

We have had an amazing start to the season but were disappointing at Aston Villa last week. The defensive resources have been tested recently & with Everton scoring goals and looking dangerous, this could be a key battle. Hernandez and Michu combining in the final 3rd of the pitch is a mouthwatering prospect for Swans fans and a very dangerous challenge for Leighton Baines and his colleagues

Head-to-head

Everton were one of only 3 teams to do the double over Swansea last season and much has been made about Moyes' ability to win the tactical battle against a team who love to pass the ball around for fun. The fact that Everton didn’t concede last year either means that the Swans will have a point to prove in front of goal. In two home games this year we have scored five, so you would think we'd get at least one!

Best bets

Under 0.5 goals at 10.00. Whilst I have backed Swansea’s goalscoring record this season, Everton have proved tough opponents in the past and I actually think that both teams will see a draw as a good result. Both games last year were tight affairs this could be a value bet.

Michu to score at 3.25. The lad is on a hot streak at the moment and so whilst it's not going to make you a fortune, a fiver on Michu might well pay for a few pints down the local on Saturday night.

Red Card at 4.75. Chico got sent off in the last game and there are a few players in the Swansea line up who can put in the odd hefty challenge. This could be decent value, especially if Everton frustrate the Swans as they have done in recent games

Score prediction

Swansea 2-1 Everton

Team news

Everton will be looking to continue a decent start to the season as they travel to Swansea with a mostly fit squad. Only Darron Gibson and Nikica Jelavic will miss due to injury, but David Moyes still has a few decent options. After a horrid defensive display against Newcastle, don’t be surprised to see Phil Jagielka or Sylvain Distin dropped in favor of Johnny Heitinga.

Form

After starting the season off with victories against Manchester United and Aston Villa, Everton suffered a poor defeat to West Brom before drawing Newcastle on Monday. The loss of Jelavic against Newcastle was distressing, but Gibson’s departure due to injury has proved to be even more disasterous. Teams are aware of the threat of Marouane Fellaini, and the squad sometimes struggles to create because of it.

Head-to-head

Last year Swansea endured a dream season, but Everton were one of only three sides to get a victory at the Liberty Stadium with a 2-0 win. In fact, we have never lost to Swansea in the 15 matches between the sides. We'll need to press Swansea hard to disrupt their passing style for any hope of success.

Best bets:

Leighton Baines to score anytime at 8.0. If last year's game is any indication, Baines will get plenty of chances to go forward.

Kevin Mirallas to score anytime at 3.2. The Belgian new boy has looked dangerous in every match and seems likely to open his Premier League account sooner rather than later.

Both teams to score at 1.75. With Swansea missing defenders and our own backline fragile, this looks a safe punt.

Score prediction

Swansea 1-2 Everton (9.75)
