Arsenal are interested in a £12m move for the Hoffenheim forward Kevin Volland.

Why it won’t happen: Volland is a wide player and Arsenal already have many talented players in these position.

Tabloid Speculation

On-loan Jake Livermore wants to join Hull permanently from Spurs.

Why it will happen: Hull are doing well this season and if they stay up a deal will surely be done.

Why it won’t happen: There is a long way for the season to go and if Hull go down they won’t be able to afford a deal with tough negotiators like Tottenham.

Loan Star

Clint Dempsey looks set to make a loan return to Fulham, as he attempts to retain fitness ahead of the World Cup.

Why it will happen: Dempsey had a falling out with Martin Jol when the left the club, but with Jol gone, the way is paved for his return to a club where he is something of a legend.

Why it won’t happen: Fulham already have a lot of attacking talent at their disposal. Would they not be better off trying to recruit defensive players?

No Deal

The Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke doesn’t want to leave the club in January, despite interest from Manchester United.

Why it will happen: Atletico Madrid are challenging for the title in Spain. Why would he want to swap that for a battle for a top four spot?

Why it won’t happen: Koke has an affordable buy-out fee and his head could be turned by a hefty salary.
