Transfer News Today: Arsenal FinallyTurn To Zlatan To Fill Striker Void

Wenger Gunner Go Get Ibra

Zlatan Ibrahimovic one day plying his trade in the Premier League has long been considered a pipe dream, but news out of France seems to suggest it could become a reality. The iconic Swede turns 34 in October and with just a year remaining on his deal, PSG could be tempted to cash in on the centre forward.

With Arsenal seemingly desperate for striking reinforcements the links are obvious and a move to the Emirates would make sense for all parties. Unsurprisingly, Manchester United are also sniffing around, and after Wayne Rooney’s showings so far they desperately need a bit of class up top.

Will Wenger splash the cash on an ageing talent? Probably not, but if he could get Ibra to move to north London, even for just one season, it would take the pressure of Olivier Giroud and keep everyone entertained. Ibrahimovic and van Gaal could be a lively dynamic at Old Trafford.

Time To Go Pedro

Pedro has been close to joining Manchester United for what seems like an eternity. However, the bastion of all things Spanish that is Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that the Spaniard has agreed terms with the Red Devils.

Is he what they need? Not exactly, but he can be one hell of a player if he’s used correctly. Whether he fits Van Gaal’s rigid style is another question altogether.

Thauvin Set For Toon

Another week, another Frenchman linked with a move to the Toon. However, this is a deal that looks set to go through soon. Florian Thauvin has been heavily touted to arrive on Tyneside since the window opened and it looks like it’s about to happen. Remy Cabella and his sumptuous quiff could also be used as bait to tempt Marseille into a deal.

Sign some defenders Steve! He’s highly-rated in France but has struggled a little at L’OM. McClaren believes he can get the best out of the 22-year-old and if Cabella moves then the deal makes sense. But, yes, defenders should surely be the priority.

Roman Gives Jose License To Get Stones

After worryingly bad showings from John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic against Manchester City, it’s no surprise to see Chelsea are going to up their bid for John Stones. It looks like Roman has signed off as much as £35m for the 21-year-old.

Is this the end of the Jose-JT bromance? It could well be, but that was Terry’s first bad performance in an age. Saying that, Stones would be a superb acquisition. It’s got deadline day deal written all over it.

Mario Heading Into The Hornets’ Nest

It’s becoming clear that Mario Balotelli has no future at Anfield and Quique Sanchez Flores is looking to give the Italian an unexpected lifeline. It looks like a straight shoot-out between Watford and Sampdoria for the striker.

We know it’s silly season but surely not. Would Mario’s ego take a move to Watford? We imagine not, but we hope it happens, even if it’s just to see him out on the town with Elton.
