Reports in France on Monday state that Arsenal are ready to launch their summer bid for Leicester City’s lively attacker Riyad Mahrez in the coming weeks, with the Algerian apparently keen on a move.

Mahrez has scored 17 goals in 35 games this season and is on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award, but the 25-year-old is said to be ready to try his luck at a traditional English football powerhouse once Leicester’s title bid is over.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly changed his mind and is now ready to offer midfielder Joe Allen a new contract following a series of impressive displays.

Welsh midfielder Allen is set for a crucial few weeks in his Reds career following injuries to Jordan Henderson and Emre Can, and Klopp has seen enough to reward him with an extension to his current deal which has just over 12 months to run.

Ahead of their sides’ meeting in the Premier League on Monday, Stoke boss Mark Hughes has claimed that Tottenham have already beaten his team to the signing of West Brom attacker Saido Berahino.

The forward, who missed two penalties against Watford on Saturday, was linked with both clubs in January, but Hughes now admits that Spurs have an advantage in the battle for his services in the summer.
