Today we examine Chelsea’s search for a striker, a possible summer transfer for Luis Suarez, a loan deal for Arsenal and the future of Leighton Baines...
Jose Mourinho is considering another move for Wayne Rooney in the January transfer window.
Why it will happen: Rooney has not signed a new contract with Manchester United yet and until he does, his value will decrease.
Why it won’t happen: United will not want to strengthen one of their rivals and would sell Rooney abroad if they can’t convince him to commit to a new contract.
Luis Suarez could join Real Madrid or Barcelona in the summer, despite signing a new contract with Liverpool.
Why it will happen: Suarez wanted out of Liverpool only last summer and the giants of Spain have the financial muscle to pull off such a deal.
Why it won’t happen: Liverpool are in the running for the Premier League title and at the least could qualify for the Champions League, which could tempt Suarez to stay.
Arsenal will sign Alvaro Morata on loan from Real Madrid in January.
Why it will happen: Morata is struggling for opportunities in Madrid and would solve Arsenal’s striker problems without the club having to spend big money.
Why it won’t happen: Real Madrid need Morata in their squad as they lack strikers.
Roberto Martinez has claimed that Everton are under no pressure to sell Leighton Baines in January.
Why it will happen: With Everton flying high they will not want to disrupt their squad until the summer.
Why it won’t happen: Baines only has 18 months on his contract and Everton already appear to have a perfect replacement at the club, in the form of Bryan Oviedo.
