The New Gerrard?
Liverpool are hoping to make the Aston Villa and England midfielder Fabian Delph their new Steven Gerrard, with a January deal on the cards for a player who is out of contract at the end of the season. Delph has earned his first three caps for his country this year, but has recently been sidelined through injury.
Big shoes to fill. They are, but at 25 Delph has developed into a fine holding midfield player, eliminating some of the mistakes of his earlier career and overcoming injury problems. He shares the same agent as Gerrard too, so perhaps the reason why the Liverpool skipper is stalling on a new contract is staring us right in the face…
Gerrard is 4.40 to score at any time against Arsenal
Bellerin And Out?
Arsenal’s Spanish full-back Hector Bellerin is a target for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, with reports in Germany suggesting that the 19-year-old is being lined up by the Gunners’ fellow Champions League last-16 participants.
That would be a strange move. It would. Bellerin has looked promising when he’s broken into the Arsenal first-team of late, but with Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers still around then perhaps a loan move would work.

Show Me The Money
West Ham forward Diafra Sakho wants to strike while The Irons are hot, and is asking for a new deal with the Hammers despite signing a four-year one when he signed from Metz in the summer.
He’s got good timing. Quite. Sakho has been one of the finds of the season, scoring eight goals in 11 appearances as the Hammers have risen to fourth. If ever there is a time for him to ask for more money, it’s now.
Sakho is the 5.00 favourite to score first against Leicester on Saturday
Welcome To Manchester?
Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi is being lined up by Manchester United as their alternative to long-term target Mats Hummels. Argentina international Otamendi is likely to cost less than the £40m price tag Valencia have put on him.
Good move? Yes. United need defenders, clearly, and it is about time that they realised that Hummels just isn’t that into them. Otamendi is a good friend of Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria and so settling in at Old Trafford shouldn’t be a problem.
United are 1.57 to beat Aston Villa on Saturday
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has agreed to let highly-rated defender Kurt Zouma leave for Besiktas on loan in January.
But he’s played a few games this season. Eight, scoring once in the League Cup, but as the matches start getting more and more important for the Blues than Mourinho is likely to rely on his tried and tested performers, ensuring that there’s no place for the young Frenchman.
