Transfer News Today: Liverpool “Very Close” To Smashing Transfer Record

Breaking The Bank For Brahimi

Liverpool are ‘very close’ to smashing their transfer record according to reports in Portugal, which claim that Porto midfielder Yacine Brahimi is on the verge of a move to Reds for a huge sum of around £45m.

The 26-year-old Paris-born Algeria international has netted 21 times for the Portuguese giants over the last two seasons, and A Bola now claim that he will complete a switch to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in the coming days.

Liverpool are 10.00 to win the 2016/17 Premier League

Andros Heads Abroad

Whilst Brahimi could be swapping Portugal for England, one man who could be heading the other way is the Newcastle United midfielder Andros Townsend, who has been linked with a move to Sporting Lisbon following the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship.

Townsend has an £8m release clause in his contract, and a switch to the Portuguese capital seems to appeal to him.

Xhaka Can

And Arsenal have finally wrapped up a deal for the Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka, who has joined the Gunners on a long-term deal.

Xhaka becomes Arsene Wenger’s first signing of the summer, with attention now switched to the Frenchman’s hunt for a forward. Both Alvaro Morata and Alexandre Lacazette have been linked.
