Asier To Anfield?
Liverpool are stepping up their attempts to sign Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi after Joe Allen picked up an injury in a friendly at Swindon and will miss the start of the season.
Good addition? Yes. Illarramendi would bring control and good passing ability to the Reds midfield, and would provide a platform for the attackers to shine.
The Reds are also closing in on a season-long loan deal for the Barcelona winger Adama Traore, who will be allowed to leave by the Catalan giants to gain more first team football.
They had a Traore once before. They did, but Adama is no Djimi. He’s a Spanish youth international who has already picked up Champions League experience with the club. Watch this space.
Lyon Lure Rafael
The promise of more first-team football has led Manchester United’s Rafael Da Silva to agree a move to French side Lyon, who are set to sign him for a bargain £2.1m.
That’s cheap. It is. Rafael has his flaws but he’s a committed player, albeit one who was going to struggle for minutes at Old Trafford following the signing of Matteo Darmian.
Roberto Soldado’s Tottenham nightmare is about to end. He’s going to move to Villarreal for £11m, which is £15m less than Spurs paid for him.
Finally. Yep. It’s not been fun for Bobby. Hopefully he finds that a move back to his homeland can help him rediscover lost form.
Sunderland forward Connor Wickham is closing in an £8m move to Crystal Palace, where boss Alan Pardew is desperate to add some firepower to his side.
That’s a lot. It is, but Wickham has great potential. He could prove to be a clever signing at a club who are making a lot of clever additions.
