Transfer News Today: Manchester United eye £25m De Gea Replacement

As Louis van Gaal continues to confine the vast majority of his goalkeeping contingent to the stands, it is becoming blatantly obvious that he may actually need to sign another stopper. When Real Madrid finally cough up the money for David De Gea a replacement is going to be needed.

The man that the Red Devils are set to turn to is Fernando Muslera. The Galatasaray number one has been linked with moves to the Premier League before and he is seen as an upgrade on the current incumbent of the starting jersey, Sergio Romero.

Muslera has a wealth of international experience with over 64 caps for Uruguay and kept 11 clean sheets as Gala romped to a record 20th Turkish Lig title last term. The former Lazio man would command a substantial fee of around £25m, but with the inexperienced Sam Johnstone the only ’keeper other than Romero on speaking terms with Van Gaal, United must make their move.

Is he worth that? It’s hard to say as he’s not exactly playing in a top European league. He’s a great shot-stopper but not exactly a commanding presence. He’d be a pretty expensive gamble.

Hammer Time For Ade

West ham’s striker pursuit rumbles on but this time they are being linked with a player close to home. It seems even Tim Sherwood doesn’t want Emmanuel Adebayor but according to the Evening Standard Slaven Bilic does.

Disaster Waiting To Happen. Ade isn’t exactly known for his can-do attitude and Bilic demands a lot from his players. It’s got a fall-out by Christmas written all over it. Enjoy.

Toffees To Add Buttner To The Mix

Everton are on the verge of signing former Manchester United man Alex Buttner from Dynamo Moscow. Leighton Baines is out for 3 months and the Toffees are desperate for cover after allowing Luke Garbutt out on loan.

It Makes Sense. Buttner didn’t set the world alight at Old Trafford but he hardly got the chance. Roberto Martinez needs a left-back desperately and he could slot in easily.

Italian Star Set For Carrow Road Arrival

Rome to Norwich. Not a route many have taken but one that Matteo Destro could be about to tread. The Italian forward looked all set for Bologna but wage demands have scuppered that deal and Alex Neil wants to make him his marquee signing.

Be Wary Canaries. Remember the last big name striker that arrived at Carrow Road? Destro could end up being Van Wolfswinkel part two.

Inler Imminent at Leicester

Leicester are set to finalise a move for Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler. He is set to cost around £3m and supposedly chose the Foxes over Schalke, He has Esteban Cambiasso’s elegant shoes to fill but he could be a major coup for Claudio Ranieri.

A classy addition. If Ranieri can get the best out of the Napoli man then Leicester have themselves a superb footballer who wore a lion mask when he was unveiled at Napoli. Just an idea for the City PR department.
