Transfer News Today: West Ham In £45m Swoop For Liverpool Duo & Man United Agree £50m Deal For Brazil Star

Hammers Eyeing £45m Striker Swoop

West Ham are enjoying a fantastic season and are in serious contention for a European spot - exactly what they were hoping for ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium next season.

To tie into that that they are keen to invest heavily this summer and a raid on Liverpool’s forward line is in the offing with the Hammers set to test the Reds’ mettle with a £45m bid for Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge.

Offers for the Belgian are expected to be welcomed, with it clear he doesn’t fit Jurgen Klopp’s style, while the Merseyside club could be tempted to cash-in on Sturridge, who has been hampered by injuries in the last three years.

Red Devils To Steal Van der Wiel

Man United need full-backs, not just now, but in the summer too. It is an area where they have lacked quality since Luke Shaw’s injury, while Matteo Darmian has been OK, but nothing more.

The Red Devils could be set to renew their interest in Gregory van der Wiel, a player they have tried to sign on numerous occasions already.

He currently sits behind Serge Aurier in the PSG pecking order, but after the Ivorian’s outburst is going to be given a chance to prove his worth. Nevertheless, it is expected that Aurier will eventually return, such is his quality, and the Dutch right-back is thought to be eager for a new challenge this summer.

United have also been linked with the signing of Felipe Anderson since January and Italian media are reporting that a deal has already been struck for the Brazilian schemer. To make matters more believable, Lazio have denied it, meaning the deal is probably on.

A fee of around £50m is said to have been laid on the table, with all that is left for the player to sign a deal at Old Trafford.

Anderson would add some much-needed spark and creativity to the Red Devils squad but such a fee is a huge risk for a player who has only played 70 games on the continent.
