Juventus – Atalanta
Do not expect Massimiliano Allegri to field a weakened side ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund. Juventus have drawn two of their last three league games, and their manager expressed frustration on Thursday at the apparent complacency creeping into his team. “Ever since we moved seven points clear, people have been talking about a league title as though it was already filed away,” he said. “We risk losing sight of one of the fundamental objectives for our season.”
The return of Carlos Tevez from suspension should help to ensure that Juventus do not slip up again here. Serie A’s leading scorer, five of his 14 goals have arrived inside the first 15 minutes of a match.
Tevez first goalscorer – 3.55
Sampdoria – Genoa
Five months have passed since this season’s first Derby della Lanterna. Sampdoria looked the more likely European contenders back then, leaping up to fourth with a victory sealed by Manolo Gabbiadini. But the forward’s departure in January appears to have swung the balance of power back in favour of their rivals. Although these two clubs sit level in joint-sixth place, the hosts have picked up just two points from their last four games, while Genoa have 10 over the same span.
Samp can at least take encouragement from seeing Luis Muriel mark his debut with a goal last weekend. Recent editions of this fixture have been cagy, and one moment of inspiration on either side could well make all the difference.
Under 1.5 goals – 3.15
