Frosinone – Empoli
Ricky Saponara pulled off an extraordinary five nutmegs against Atalanta on Thursday. Sadly, Empoli still lost the match. This is pretty much the story of the season so far for the Tuscans, Saponara putting in one eye-catching performance after another without being able to drag his team out of the mire.
It is easy to imagine him running rampant once more against opponents who, despite their draw with Juventus, remain bottom of the table. Whether or not it will be enough to get Empoli a win is another question entirely.
Saponara to score – 3.45
Atalanta – Sampdoria
Serie A’s most prolific team, Sampdoria have scored 11 times already this season. The last time they had this many goals after five games was 1991-92, a campaign which finished with them playing in a European Cup final.
This team is not as good as that one, and the truth is that Samp were fortunate to beat Roma on Wednesday, but the habit for putting the ball in the net certainly stands them in good stead. I’m surprised to see them priced as long as they are against a modest Atalanta.
Away win – 3.60
