Serie A Betting: Inter to sweep aside Livorno as Zanetti returns

Catania 2.8, the draw 3.1, Udinese 2.6

The Stadio Angelo Massimino is no longer the fortress that it once was. True enough, Catania have kept clean sheets in three of their five home games so far this season. But they have failed to score themselves there just as often.

Udinese’s away record so far this season shows defeats to Atalanta, Chievo, Milan and Lazio, contrasted with just a single win at Sassuolo, so they are hardly a certainty to overwhelm their struggling hosts. Given Catania’s caginess, I might consider a bet against both teams scoring at 1.85.

Inter 1.28, the draw 5.0, Livorno 11.0

Did we ever really doubt Javier Zanetti? The Inter captain advised us after tearing his Achilles tendon last April that he would return to play for his club once more. Not everyone was convinced. For all Zanetti’s enthusiasm, the fact remained that he was 39 years old, and dealing with a very serious injury.

And yet there he was at training this week, informing us of his intention to play some part in this weekend’s game. He will likely only get a few minutes, and his opportunity might yet depend on Inter dominating this game as comfortably as they are expected to do. But his team-mates, too, want to see him out there. Try Inter/Inter in the half-time/full-time market (1.85).
