Transfer News Today: Ancelotti to hijack Paulinho's Spurs move

Forum chatter

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been at the Confederations Cup in Brazil eyeing Japan star Keisuke Honda as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini. It is believed Fellaini could follow David Moyes out of Goodison Park to Manchester United (3.00), with Arsenal (1.80) also interested.

Honda, 27, seems set to leave current club CSKA Moscow and would prefer a move to the Premier League. Martinez feels the Toffees have a good chance of landing Honda, who should be available for around £5million.

Tabloid speculation

Tottenham’s hopes of signing Brazil star Paulinho may have hit the skids, with new Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reportedly keen to hijack the move.

The former Chelsea boss is expected to table a £20million bid for the Corinthians man, who had looked set to join Spurs after the north London club had a £17million bid accepted.

Luis Suarez has already agreed personal terms with Real Madrid over a £40million move from Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.

Suarez (1.45 with Unibet to join Real Madrid) has made no secret of his desire to leave England and Carlo Ancelotti is eager to make the Uruguayan, who has a £40million buy-out clause written into his Liverpool contract, his first signing at the Bernabeu.

In talks

Carlos Tevez will have to take a significant pay cut if his move to Juventus from Manchester City is to go through. City accepted a £7.6million bid (which could rise to £12.7million) but the striker, whose £198,000-a-week contract has a year to run, will not earn that kind of money at Juventus and will have to accept their terms for the move to go through.

Tevez has been hoping for a move from City ever since his relationship with then manager Roberto Mancini broke down when the player refused to come on as a second half substitute in a Champions League game at Bayern Munich.
