Ganso’s agent has publicly announced that the 22-year-old will be staying in Brazil for at least another year. Based solely on the fact that Silvio Berlusconi’s son was impressed with Carroll’s headed goal against Sweden in Euro 2012, this story is as unsubstantiated as it is random. Contact Made: Esteban Granero to Liverpool

The Reds have made enquiries about Real Madrid’s ball-playing midfielder, but their valuation has been deemed too low at this stage. Bid tabled: Andre Schurrle to Chelsea

Chelsea have had a bid for the 21-year-old German international rejected  by Bayer Leverkusen. Chelsea may well revise their budget and launch an improved bid in the coming days.
