Arsenal have offered £24m for Sporting Lisbon and Portugal’s defensive midfielder William Carvalho.
The 22-year-old has been previously seen as a target for both Manchester United and Liverpool, and played in two of his country’s three matches at the World Cup in the summer. Arsene Wenger is believed to have turned to the Angola-born youngster as an alternative to both Sami Khedira and Lars Bender.
The Gunners are 7.50 to win the Premier League this season.
Leicester City are closing in on the signing of Algeria World Cup forward Islam Slimani, who scored goals against both South Korea and Russia at the finals in Brazil.
Like Carvalho, Slimani plays for Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese capital, where he scored eight goals in 26 league games last season, and the 26-year-old is believed to be the subject of a £7m bid from the Premier League new boys despite interest from West Ham.
Leicester are 3.50 to be relegated during what will be their first Premier League season for 10 years.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Davies had been linked with a move to Liverpool but he now looks set to be Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing his arriving at Spurs, with Gylfi Sigurdsson set to go the other way to South Wales and Danny Rose lined up for a £6m move to Hull City.
Tottenham are 4.50 for a top four finish.
