Transfer News Today: Arsene Wenger Targets PSG Star For Arsenal

Forum Chatter

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is targeting Paris Saint-Germain teenager Adrien Rabiot to fill the most pressing position in his Gunners side; the centre of midfield.

Our view: The success of Frenchmen at the Gunners is well documented, and Rabiot is a talented midfielder who has become frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities in his nation’s capital. He’d be a good addition for Arsenal.

The Gunners are 3.35 to win the Community Shield in normal time

Another player leaving Paris could be forward Edinson Cavani, who has attracted interest from Liverpool according to his agent.

Our view: Clearly the Reds will bring in a forward in this transfer window, but unless they shell out big money on wages then top talents such as Cavani are more likely to go elsewhere.

Liverpool are 5.00 to score the most goals in the Premier League this season

Tabloid Gossip II

Manchester City’s Javi Garcia could be set to cut short his spell in England and move to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg for £12.5m.

Our view: City need to trim their squad in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules, and Garcia would seem to be one of the more saleable assets, with Andre Villas-Boas more than willing to take him to Russia.

City are 9.00 to win the Community Shield 2-1 against Arsenal on Sunday

In Talks

Aly Cissokho, who spent last season on loan at Liverpool from Valencia, is set for a move to Aston Villa after holding talks with boss Paul Lambert.

Our view: Cissokho certainly made his mark at Liverpool, albeit in somewhat of a comedy way, and following the acquisitions of Joe Cole, Philippe Senderos and Kieran Richardson Villa fans must be wondering who’s next.

Villa are 4.25 to go down

One In, One Out

Swansea City defender Chico Flores is set to link up with former Swans manager Michael Laudrup at Qatari club Lekhwiya, with the Welsh side snapping up Argentina’s World Cup defender Federico Fernandez from Napoli for £7m to replace him.

Our view: This move would certainly seem to be an upgrade for Swans boss Garry Monk, and at 25 years old Fernandez would appear to be something of a bargain.

Swansea are 3.00 to finish in the top 10
