Dortmund join race for Pjanic, Benitez wants Agger at Napoli, Mata is off to France and Barca are in talks with ter Stegen...
Borussia Dortmund will join Manchester United in the race for Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic.
Why it will happen: Dortmund need a quality playmaker and Pjanic will be attracted by the glamour of such a big move.
Why it won’t happen: Roma are in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League this season, with Pjanic a key member of the team.
Tabloid speculation I
Napoli boss Rafael Benitez will move for Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger in January in an attempt to strengthen the Serie A side’s defence.
Why it will happen: Agger has not played as much this season as in previous years and may feel the time is right to take up a new challenge under a manager that he knows rates him.
Why it won’t happen: Liverpool are enjoying their best season for several years and Agger will want to be part of that.
Tabloid speculation II
Paris Saint-Germain will make a January bid for Juan Mata – and may send Javier Pastore to Chelsea.
Why it will happen: Mata has been an outcast under Jose Mourinho and will be eager to get regular game time elsewhere in a World Cup year.
Why it won’t happen: Chelsea may reject a swap deal and demand cold hard cash – and a lot of it.
Borussia Moenchengladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is edging closer to a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Why it will happen: Ter Stegen has long been linked with a move to Camp Nou, with current No. 1 Victor Valdes long linked with a move away. It would appear only a matter of time before the move happens.
Why it won’t happen: The deal could be held up as Borussia Moenchengladbach find a replacement. They have identified Freiburg keeper Oliver Baumann.
