Liverpool are ready to move for Burnley hot shot Danny Ings in January. Brendan Rodgers is looking for cover for the injured Daniel Sturridge.

Why it will happen: Ings will be available at a reasonable price and will jump at the chance of joining a team of Liverpool’s stature.

Why it won’t happen: Burnley are likely to play hardball over Ings, and won’t sell unless it’s on their terms. And, with Aspas sitting on the bench, do Liverpool really need him?

Tabloid speculation

Bayern Munich are preparing a £40million bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz. The Brazil star has found himself on the periphery at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho, and is reportedly keen to secure a big move and first-team football.

Why it will happen: Bayern are European champions. If they can improve it’s in defence, and Luiz could form a solid pairing with compatriot Dante in the run up to the World Cup.

Why it won’t happen: Barca are also in the hunt and it could take a very big offer to convince Chelsea to sell.

Manchester United are ready to trigger Marco Reus’s release clause in a bid to lure the Dortmund forward to Old Trafford.
