Casillas to City, Suarez to sign historic Liverpool deal, Vucinic to Spurs and Guarin to Chelsea, plus other rumours...

Forum chatter

Manchester City are ready to move for Madrid outcast Iker Casillas in January.

Why it will happen: It is no secret Manuel Pellegrini is in the market for a goalkeeper, looking to upgrade on his current options. Casillas is a world-class stopper and would look to rebuild his career at City.

Why it won’t happen: Casillas is a Madrid icon, even on the bench. Is he willing to give that up?

Tabloid speculation I

Luis Suarez will be offered a historic five-year deal by Liverpool, who will break the bank to keep their prized asset at Anfield.

Why it will happen: Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has already flown to Barcelona to meet Suarez’s agent – Liverpool are pulling out all the stops to keep him.

Why it won’t happen: It all depends on Champions League football for Liverpool. If they do it this term, he likely stays. If they don’t he goes to Barca, Madrid or one of Europe’s other top clubs.

Tabloid speculation II

Tottenham will approach Juve over a loan move for striker Mirko Vucinic until the end of the season.

Why it will happen: Injuries have left Vucinic on the periphery at Juve and he will fancy a move away to secure regular game time.

Why it won’t happen: It is thought Juve favour a permanent deal, something Tottenham are less keen on.

In talks

Inter Milan’s Colombia midfielder is closing in on a January move to Chelsea, according to his agent.

Why it will happen: Mourinho hasn’t made too many additions of his own since re-joining the club in the summer, and is looking to add some steel to his midfield.

Why it won’t happen: Chelsea are already overflowing with midfielders. Marco van Ginkel, Kevin de Bruyne, John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and even Juan Mata are not even first choices under Mourinho.
