Transfer News Today: City want Lewandowski

Forum chatter

Yesterday it was Inter Milan, today it is Champions League winners Bayern Munich. It seems everyone is fighting for… Micah Richards. Apparently, Pep Guardiola is an admirer of Richards, who the Spaniard has placed on his shopping list. Here’s what the 25-year-old’s agent had to say: “Micah wants to know where he stands with his new manager and will then look at his options. Bayern have made some enquiries and if a club of that stature want to sign you, then you have to give it serious thought.”

Tabloid speculation

The odds of Manchester City signing Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski have been slashed to 10.00 after Juventus signed Carlos Tevez. City are looking for a striker to replace Tevez and, having baulked at the £50million asking price for Edinson Cavani, are about to step up their interest in the Polish hitman.

The Daily Bale

Real Madrid’s increasingly desperate attempts to sign Gareth Bale have resulted in speculation that they have offered Spurs Angel di Maria plus cash in exchange for the Welshman. Tottenham are standing firm as they attempt to ward off any further interest in their prized asset. Bale is 2.20 to join Real Madrid and 1.45 to stay at Spurs.

Come and get me

Tottenham will step up their efforts to sign Barcelona forward David Villa this week, when sporting director Franco Baldini holds talks with the Spain star.

Andre Villas-Boas wants to bolster his striking options this summer and has identified Villa, 31, as his number one target. Villa is believed to be open to the move given his lack of starts for Barca last season and the recent signing of Brazil star Neymar.

In talks

Hannover 96 and Hamburg are battling to sign Arsenal defender Johan Djourou. The Swiss centre-back has fallen out of favour at the Emirates and Hannover, where Djourou played on loan for the second half of last season, are favourites to land him – despite keen interest from Hamburg.

"We are in touch with Arsenal FC and we feel talks with the clubs have been put on the right track. We are confident. The lad will now need to make a decision," Hannover 96 general manager Dirk Dufner told BILD.
